Karl Jones Award

Elementary Teaching

The Karl Jones Award is given to elementary teachers who are exemplary mathematics teachers. Recipients of this award encourage student achievement by providing activities which enhance understanding of math concepts. They generate enthusiasm for math among students while providing opportunities to apply and extend mathematics skills. They serve as role models for other teachers and students by demonstrating interest in acquiring and maintaining skills in mathematics, including instructional skills. They demonstrate a willingness to share skills and ideas with other teachers.

Up and Coming Award

New Educators

The Up and Coming Award is given to teachers that are within their first two years of service. Recipients of this award display an enthusiasm for mathematics instruction. These educators display qualities of highly effective mathematics instructors regardless of their limited years of service. Awardees seek out mentors and professional development opportunities to build upon their instructional knowledge. These educators may be teaching at the elementary or secondary levels.
